ABS, ESC and traction control — what learners should know
How modern stability systems help in panic stops — and what they will not fix.
ABS keeps wheels from locking under hard braking so you can still steer. Press firmly and hold — do not pump the pedal on ABS-equipped cars.
ESC / VSC systems can brake individual wheels to reduce a skid. Traction control limits wheelspin on wet starts. Both help, neither replaces sensible speed.
Learners sometimes brake late because they trust electronics. Electronics need grip and time. Leave longer gaps in rain.
iTurn dual-control cars let you feel ABS pulses and recovery techniques with an instructor ready on the second pedal.
