Used-car checklist before you practise in your own car
Brakes, tyres, lights and dual-control alternatives — stay safe when training in a family car.
Own-car practice is excellent for transferring skills — only if the car is mechanically safe. Check tyre tread, brake feel, lights, wipers and clutch bite before a lesson.
Insurance must cover a learner with an instructor. Confirm this before the session; do not assume.
Without dual control, choose quieter roads and an instructor experienced in own-car coaching. Early highway merges can wait.
iTurn’s own-car training rate exists for exactly this transfer stage after fundamentals are solid in a dual-control vehicle.
