How to get a driving licence in Kerala (2026 guide)
Learner’s licence to permanent DL — eligibility, documents, Parivahan steps and what the RTO test expects.
A driving licence in Kerala is still one of the strongest signals of independence — but the process has tightened. Whether you need a learner’s licence (LL), are booking the driving test, or renewing an expired card, start with eligibility and the right forms.
Age rules (Motor Vehicles Act): typically 16 for certain gearless two-wheelers, 18 for geared motorcycles and light motor vehicles (cars), and higher for many transport classes. Always confirm the class you want on Sarathi before you pay fees.
For a fresh learner’s licence you usually need proof of age and address, photographs, and medical paperwork (Form 1 / Form 1A depending on age and vehicle class). Apply through Parivahan Sarathi (state: Kerala), book the computer LL test, and pay the fee for each class.
After you pass the LL test, the licence is generally valid for six months. Use that window for structured practice — dual-control car or bike — then reserve a driving-test slot in Sarathi and appear with a suitable vehicle at the testing ground.
At iTurn we handle document guidance, LL and DL coordination, mock tests and doorstep practice so you spend your hours on real roads, not on guessing forms. If you are starting from zero, compare beginner courses and enrol when you are ready to train seriously.
